SCHOOL DAY REPORT 2010 – 2011

Hari om.

 

 

            First of all let me offer my humble pranams at the Holy feet of Guruparampara.

            I would like to use my previlage to express our warm welcome to our Chief Sevak Sri. Suresh Mohan, Prof. T.K.S.Unnithan AAC, Chinmaya Vidyalayas, Principals, Vice Principal and teachers from other Vidyalayas, parents, Trust Office members, mission members, well wishers, and members of staff, neighbours and my dear students.

            It is indeed with a sense of pride and pleasure I wish to place before you the Annual report of the activities of the school during the academic year 2010 – 2011. At present we have in role1210 students, 57 teaching staff and 12 non teaching staff. The classes for standard tenth and twelfth began on 5th May.While classes for I to XI started on first June Nursery classes began on 15th June. This year also we had excellent results in ICSE and ISC examinations.Neena.R.S became the topper with 93.2% at the ICSE level and Shewtha J Parvathy secured 93.4% at the ISC level.

            The school started functioning in accordance with an action plan prepared by the academic council.

            Through a system of continuous and comprehensive evaluation and through periodical tests and terminal examinations we carefully evaluate the progress of the students on a regular basis. In the academic year our focus has been on the slow learners and mediocre students. Efforts were made during the year to uplift such students to greater heights through remedial classes and counseling.

            We have tried to space out the co-curricular activities throughout the year.  In the first term we have Quiz Fest, Sports Fest, Science fair, literary club activities, and in the second term we held painting and drawing competition. Inter school Athletic Meet, Teacher’s Day celebration, youth fest etc. Food fest will be conducting in the first week of December.

            To make teaching and learning an enjoyable process this year we introduced smart class technology.  Its inauguration was on July 27th by Sri.Nandakumar, IAS. In this contest, I would like to express our gratitude to the management for introducing such innovative methods of technology in the curriculum.

           

 

 

          Throughout the year, we try to nurture the potential of every child so that they emerge as good all rounder. Club activities serve as outlets for creativity, expression and for unveiling the talents. Gul mohar, the English literary club conducted caption writing contest and a debate on July 22nd.

‘Celestium’ our Social club was inaugurated on October 25th. A documentary depicting the adverse and evil effects of world wars was shown to the students with an objective to keep out those things from their minds. It is a boon for our students as it helps the children to get concrete concepts of various aspects they are learning

            Our teachers at the helm of the teaching learning process form the backbone of our institution. In order to empower them, input sessions were held for them from time to time. Physical science teachers attended in a seminar organized by VSSC. In this contest   I wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts taken by the management for conducting workshops for all the subjects,

            In connection with reading week celebration a reading competition was arranged by the Malayalam Department and Harikrishnan of Standard:VIII B  emerged as the winner. Additional books and periodicals were bought to enhance the reading material in the library.

            On the solemn day of June 30th Guruji’s birthday staff and students of the Vidyalaya generously donated some useful commodities to the inmates of Balasram. I sincerely thank the parents for their co-operation to make the event a grand success.

            Ramayana parayanam, quiz competition, painting competition etc. were organized to mark Ramayana month celebration. Display of Dashapushpa with all the relevant details of each of them was also arranged prize winners in all the categories were honored in the assembly.

            As usual Higher Secondary student organized an interschool Quiz fest on July 6th.Holy Angels ISC school bagged  the Chinmaya Ever Rolling trophy  and  a cash prize of Rs.2,500/-.

            The entire Vidyalaya celebrated Gurupoornima on July 26th with devotion. Guru paduka pooja was followed by chanting of guru ashtotara namavali and gurupaduka stotram. A special assembly was held during which an inspirational talk on the importance of the day with special emphasis on Adiguru Veda Vyasa was arranged.

            The arena of sports witnessed the wholehearted participation of students on July 16th and 17th- in the school level sports meet and at the 7th Chinmaya Inter School Athletic Meet held at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium on October 29th.Where many students came forward to demonstrate their athletic prowess. It is indeed happy to say that our students put up an excellent performance and bugged individual championship in MINI-Boys, Sub junior Boys and Girls and Senior Girls and brought home the overall champion ship trophy for the second time. With a sense of pride and happiness I would like to congratulate Smt.Sharmila.K.Nair, Physical education teacher, all the participants and their parents, teachers and the management to make the event a grand success.

 

            With dedication we celebrated the Mahasamadhi Day by the teachers and students filled the sacredness of the holyday.

         The school youth festival a much awaited event which brings out the hidden talents and gives ample opportunities to all students took place in September. The ensuing two days were filled fun and which involved literary events and other off stage and on stage events which dazzled the mind of all.

            With Athapookalam, Onapattukal, pulikkali, Thiruvathirakali etc we celebrated the spirit of harvest festival of God’s own country, Onam in all its splendour.

             In connection with the Teachers Day on September 6th, the students ran the school for a day taking overall academic responsibilities.  Student Principal Sri.Aravind of Standard: XII was ably assisted in his work by the student. Vice Principal Rohini Devi R Warrier of STD: XI. The best student teacher and the best disciplined class were honored at the end of the day.

            Students displayed charts, working models, still models, collections etc on the Science Fair held on July 23rd.

            Mahanavami Day was celebrated as Mathrupooja on October. It was held under the guidance of Prof. M.G. Sasibhoosan, President Chinmaya Mission.

            Parent teachers meetings and open houses were held for different classes in the month of June, August and October and many constructive and thought provoking suggestions and discussions were the outcome.

            We never missed an opportunity to inculcate patriotism in children. Talks on various topics like India before independence and India after independence were arranged on August 15th besides singing of patriotic songs, display of parade etc.

            Scholarship examinations have been given due importance and

 weightage as they help in preparing our students to face competitive examinations.  A good role of students appeared for Science Olympiad Examination, Mathematics Olympiad Examination, and Cyber Olympiad Examination, IAIS Examination by Macmillan etc.

 

           

          Students showcased their talents in Interchinmaya competitions like in the Daksha – the cultural fest organized by Chimaya Vidyalaya, Vazhuthacaud,Chin IT fest by C.V. Kattakada, and Keraleeyam Quiz  by C.V.Naruvamoodu. Abhilash.S of Standard:XI won the title Mr. Avatar in the Daksha fest.

Congratulations to the participants, their parents and the organizers of the above mentioned programmes.

 

        Chinmaya Dhara,the Alumini Association of the Vidyalaya organised a career guidance programme for the Higher Secondary Students on july30th It helped them to understand the horizons of career opportunities existing in the scenario.

 

            Two of our students Subin.S of standard VI and Madhav Sankar R Warrier of Standard XI are eligible for CCMT Scholarship.I would like to place our gratitude to Dr.Manju, from NIMS hospital for sponsoring tuition fees to a VIth standard student.

 

                        Regular staff meetings and appraisals of work done by the teaching faculty in both curricular and extra curricular activities has enabled smooth functioning of the school.

              All the classes from Standard I to VII went on one trip to places of interest.  Classes VIII to XII were taken for an unforgettable 3 days trip to Ooty and Black thunder.

            Regular BV Classes and CHYK classes ensure spiritual growth and moral development in children.  The classes are conducting effectively and interestingly by Sri. Sooraj, a CHYK member. Thank you Sooraj.

            In KG section, fruit day, vegetable day, colours day etc were held with joy and enthusiasm. To provide joyful learning a new nursery park is added this year.

            To get a thorough understanding of the sacred language Sanskrit ‘Samskritha Sambhasana Sibiram’ was arranged for 3 days in September.

 

            Scout and guides wing of the Vidyalaya actively participated in various programmes like run for health,

 

            Under the guidance of Scout Master Sri.Hari Kumar cleanliness was arranged in October to mark Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. Investiture ceremony was held on

           

            Learning would be more productive   and qualitative one if sufficient learning activities are provided.  We had taken our high school students to the legislative assembly to witness assembly session.  They were taken to Gandhi Smaraka Bhavan for a philately   exhibition.

For KG section, nature walk is a part of their curriculum itself.

   Adolescence is a transitional critical period in the life of students.To gets a better understanding of the bodily changes students were exposed to an interactive session by Dr.Lekshmi and Dr.Reji from SAT Hospital, and Dr.Lekshmi Ammal from Attukal hospital.

    

    Student’s council comprising of 12 members was framed with specific rules and responsibilities for improving overall disciplinary and other activities of the school and enhancing leadership qualities in them.

      

            This year Smt. Lekshmi.T, the Music Teacher and two non-teaching staff Smt. Jalajakumari and Thulasi Bai are retiring from this institution.

.

            We all prey our homage to master Gokul Krishna a student of standard X who met an untimely death on June 19th. May his soul rest in peace.

 

 

            While it is time to conclude this annual report, I feel obliged to express my gratitude to all those who have made this annual day celebrations possible.

 

            I wish to register my words of appreciation to Sri. Suresh Mohan, Chief Sevak, an ever enthusiastic and resourceful person whose inspiration and motivation plays a prominent part in the smooth functioning of all the endeavors of the Vidyalaya.

 

            I also use this occasion to thank Sri. Ajay Antony, Course Director, TIME Institute for his spell bound performance in the Inter School Quiz Fest.

I would like to express my gratitude to Prof. T.K.S.Unnithan, AAC for equipping us to carry out various activities of the Vidyalaya effectively and with utmost perfection.

I wish to thank each and every member of the teaching and non teaching staff, mission members, office staff and security staff for rendering their helping hands for the smooth functioning of the school.

                     The success of our Vidyalaya depends on the co-operation, hard work and vision of values of the management, staff members, students and parents. I thank each and every one of you for the continued support and co-ordination.
